One of the Best Airbnb Listings in New Orleans

Last month, my mom, my boyfriend, and I ventured out to New Orleans for an extended weekend to attend and celebrate my sister's graduation from Tulane.  We had some great food, excellent drinks, an amazing place to stay, and even a beignet taste test of sorts.  Because I could write about New Orleans for days, I've decided to divide the highlights of our trip into a series of posts.  Check out the other upcoming entries if you want to know more about our New Orleans excursion beyond this gem of an Airbnb find!

When we started to plan our trip, I decided to explore the options available on Airbnb.  They were definitely cheaper and more interesting looking than hotels for the weekend and, for the three of us, many offered the luxury of multiple bedrooms, a kitchen, the works.  As a designer, I usually seek out unique accommodations when I travel because, if I'm spending the money, why not stay in a cool space?  I ended up stumbling across this decorator's home right off of Magazine St., where many great shops & restaurants are located.  Her bold & eclectic mix of styles, patterns, and colors looked stunning - it was a no-brainer to book and it definitely lived up to our expectations!  We were able to walk to so many of our meals/snacks: SucreAtchafalayaStein's Market & DeliDistrict Donuts Sliders BrewDat Dog, and, let's not forget, Commander's Palace (more on those in a later post).  It was also only a 10-15 minute drive to the French Quarter, which was filled with many of our other key destinations.  But enough about the location, let me show you these digs!  Since this is a shotgun home (no hallway - you just pass from one room to the next), these pictures are taken as you move from front to back through the house.

living room and entryway

so many great coffee table books!

disco ball bedroom with ombre wall

master bedroom with great fabric wall covering (Hi Greg!)

cheeky pillows, ecletic art, and great headboard/blanket color & pattern combination

a simple kitchenette

kitchen continued (with welcome gift).  This table was perfect for getting work done (yay freelance life!) while traveling (and while everyone else was asleep).

industrial modern bathroom

gorgeous back patio.  i didn't have the opportunity to enjoy this space but my mom enjoyed her morning coffee out back one day (until the New Orleans heat drove her back inside).

The decorator of the home, Valorie Hart, has done other homes that look equally stunning - check out her portfolio on her website.  While we were fairly self-sufficient since we know the city fairly well, she was always available and right next door if we needed anything.  I would highly recommend this home to anyone that loves great design and would be respectful of the treat that Valorie has shared with the Airbnb community!
