It's Our First Birthday!

In case you didn't guess from the title of this post, it's been exactly one year since we launched Modern Tiki Lounge! The past 365 days have been filled with so many tiki-filled adventures on our part and we've loved every part of it.

One year ago, when I wrote the first post that was featured on this blog, I was beyond excited. I had just left my 9-5 job in favor of a more flexible & creative lifestyle as a freelance designer and founder of Modern Tiki Lounge (translation: it was time for fun, freedom, and taking my career into my own hands). Just in case you'd like to check it out, here's that inaugural post: New Year, New Business

The past year of Modern Tiki Lounge has been filled with so many great highlights for the two of us so I figured I'd share a few (ok, maybe more than a few):

Not one but TWO visits to LA's tiki supper club, The Coconut Club (we're big fans): A Peek Inside LA's Underground Tiki Supper Club and Tales of Our Second Visit to the Coconut Club

A tour of an amazing architectural wonder of a home in Los Angeles designed by John Lautner: A Tour of the Sheats Goldstein Residence

A trip to New Orleans where we got to try some great drinks at Beachbum Berry's Latitude 29: New Orleans Cocktails: Latitude 29 (and Other Drinks)

A visit to San Francisco to check out some of the tiki bars they have to offer up north: Tales of our San Francisco Tiki Adventure

An engagement( ! ) and the start of lots of planning for our upcoming Modern Tiki Wedding

Getting to attend a special luau at Disneyland (part of the ongoing Diamond Celebration): Trader Sam's Tahitian Terrace Diamond Luau

Our first visit to Tiki Oasis in San Diego (we wish would would have stayed more days!): 10 Tiki Oasis Tips (to Guarantee an Awesome Weekend)

and many, many trips to the Tonga Hut to complete our Grog Logs (post all about our 78-drink journey soon to come!)

Just looking at all that we've done, we're so happy we started this blog to inspire ourselves to get out there and go on some great adventures!

Thanks to all of you who continue to read our posts, comment, follow us on social media, etc! We love the growing network of friends we've developed over the past 365 days. To many more fun, tiki-filled years to come!

Cheers,
Kelsi
